Pedagogy, research and conducting

In parallel with her performing career, she is an accomplished pedagogue and researcher, maintaining an active teaching studio and contributing to the development of emerging artists through mentorships and masterclasses. Dr. Jacqueline Woodley recently received her Doctorate of Music from McGill University with a focus on vocal health and the evolving voice across the lifespan. Her research explores the physiological, psychological and occupational changes after childbirth for professional singers, reflecting a broader commitment to the sustainability and evolution of the singing profession. She teaches at Cégep de Saint-Laurent since 2020 and keeps an active private studio. Jacqueline conducts two high-level amateur chamber ensembles, who have recently collaborated with various orchestras and groups such as the Orchestre Classique de Montréal and Société de musique ancienne de Montréal. She is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of singers and is recognized for her thoughtful, body-based approach to vocal training for all ages.

Based in Quebec, Woodley continues to expand her artistic profile through leadership initiatives, including as co-director of Arts et Spectacles de Laval, a company producing roughly 20 concerts a year in addition to cultural mediation and community programmes.

With a career that bridges tradition and innovation, she stands out as an artist equally at home in the established repertoire and at the forefront of new creation. Critics have consistently praised Woodley’s expressive range and stage presence. Reviews have described her performances as “urgent and compelling,” capable of tracing “an emotional journey” through a wide spectrum of human experience, while others note a voice that combines “seductive simplicity” with striking dramatic impact. Whether in a large-scale symphonic setting or an intimate chamber performance, she brings a distinctive communicative intensity to her work.
